The KMUTT Zombike project, also known as “The Bike Share for Free,” is an initiative by the KMUTT Green Bike Club designed to promote cycling within the university campus. This campaign encourages both students and staff to make use of bicycles as a sustainable and eco-friendly mode of transportation. The program is accessible to all KMUTT students and staff members, and bicycles can be rented by following the six simple steps outlined below:
- Free Bicycle Rentals: KMUTT offers free bicycle rentals to students and staff. The program aims to encourage sustainable transportation and reduce the campus’s carbon footprint.
- Deposit Requirement: A deposit of 500 Baht is required for each bicycle rental. This deposit serves as a guarantee against potential damage or loss.
- First Repair Date: The first maintenance and repair session for bicycles will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at 4:30 PM at Industrial Shop 4 (OLD). Regular maintenance will be provided to ensure the bicycles are kept in good condition.
- Workshop for Bicycle Maintenance: A professional workshop on bicycle maintenance will be provided. During this workshop, participants will be taught how to repair and maintain the bicycles themselves, with all necessary tools and materials provided.
- Registration and Painting: To ensure each bicycle is identifiable and well-maintained, students and staff are required to register their rental and participate in a bicycle painting activity. This adds a personalized touch to each bicycle.
- End of Semester Return and Deposit Refund: Bicycles will be under the renter’s care for the entire semester. After safely returning the bicycles at the end of the term, the 500 Baht deposit will be refunded to the renter.
The Zombike project reflects KMUTT’s commitment to sustainability, promoting a healthier, greener campus where students and staff can enjoy the benefits of cycling. By following these six easy steps, the university community can contribute to reducing environmental impact while enjoying the convenience of free bicycle rentals.
