KMUTT Organizes “Golden Sunn Hemp Planting for Graduation Day” Activity to Promote Sustainability
On September 9, 2019, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), through the EESH Center and the Student Financial Assistance Office, hosted the “Golden Sunn Hemp Planting for Graduation Day” event at the Learning Garden Activity Area (LG). Over 50 participants, including members of the Green Heart Team, joined the activity to plant Golden Trumpet trees and sow sunn hemp seeds to beautify the campus for the 2019 graduation ceremony.
This initiative aimed to enhance the university’s green spaces and instill energy conservation, environmental protection, and safety awareness among KMUTT students. The activity also encouraged students to embrace the Green Heart mindset, preparing them to become Change Agents who will disseminate their knowledge and practices to their communities and society at large.
The event utilized the start of the academic year and freshman orientation as an opportunity to engage students in meaningful activities that benefit the university and environment.
The activity aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- Goal 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
- Goal 15: Sustainably manage terrestrial ecosystems, combat desertification, and halt biodiversity loss.
Through initiatives like these, KMUTT continues to demonstrate its dedication to sustainability and its mission to nurture environmentally conscious leaders for a greener and more sustainable future.
