On February 22, 2023, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) organized the “MANGROVE FOREST PLANTING: February 22, Planting Mangroves with Love” event. Prof. Dr. Suwit Saetia, the President, along with the university’s administrators, students, staff, and community members, participated in planting 300 mangrove trees, including propagating Rhizophora seedlings. The event took place in a new area in Phan Thai Norasing Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Sakhon Province.

This initiative aimed to conserve and restore the nation’s natural resources to their former abundance and balance the ecosystem. Additionally, it contributed to reducing the impact of greenhouse gas emissions. The activity also aligns with sustainable development policies, particularly in realizing tangible projects for achieving carbon neutrality. This is part of KMUTT’s commitment to returning benefits to society and our world.

The event supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, Goal 13: Raising awareness of the importance of limited resources and preparing for climate change and its impacts, Goal 14: Conserving water and marine resources, and Goal 15: Protecting, restoring, and promoting sustainable use of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.
