King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Prasert Kanthanamanon, Senior Vice President for Administration, participated in the Asian Sustainable Campus Network (ASCN) Conference held concurrently with the 10th Sustainable University Network of Thailand (SUN Thailand) Annual Conference.
The KMUTT delegation also included Asst. Prof. Dr. Mananya Piencharoen, Assistant President for Community Relations and Physical Systems (KMUTT Ratchaburi); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yossapong Laoonual, Assistant President for Sustainability; Asst. Prof. Suchada Chaisawadi, Advisor to the EESH Center; and Mr. Kittinat Kaewthong, Acting Director of the EESH Center, alongside staff, researchers, and students.
The event took place from February 2–3, 2026, at Sala Phra Kieo and Maha Chulalongkorn Building, Chulalongkorn University. The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, Chairman of the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT), and Chairman of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Lifelong Learning Hub.
Key highlights included plenary sessions by distinguished speakers:
- Ms. Michaela Friberg-Storey, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Thailand.
- Mr. Sangmin Nam, Director of the Environment and Development Division, UN ESCAP.
This was followed by a panel discussion featuring leaders from regional sustainability networks, including Prof. Takayuki Nakamura (CAS-Net JAPAN), Prof. Hongwei Tan (China Green University Network – CGUN), and Prof. Woo-Kyun Lee (Korean Association for Green Campus Initiative – KAGCI), moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nattapong Makaratat, Chairman of SUN Thailand.
In the afternoon, the conference featured oral and poster presentations under three core themes:
- Engagement, Culture & Behavior Change for Sustainability
- Smart & Sustainable Campus Management
- Innovation & Research for a Sustainable Future
Participation in this conference underscores KMUTT’s commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), fostering collaboration between university networks to drive global and local sustainability initiatives.
