King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), spearheaded by its Sustainable Activity Group, organized the Green Heart volunteer waste management activity during the graduation rehearsal ceremonies for the years 2023 and 2024. Held from December 16-19, 2025, at KMUTT, the event was themed ‘We are Change Agents for Our Society’.

The main objective was to educate the graduates about sustainable management concepts, encouraging them to apply these practices in their careers and daily lives. The event featured exhibitions and activities promoting the reduction of single-use plastic waste and minimizing waste from gifts, thereby fostering good waste management practices among participants. Key activities included the use of ‘Speaker Bins’ or talking trash bins to educate people about proper waste disposal, and a ‘Win Bike’ service to transport graduates and attendees, aiming to reduce environmental pollution.

Led by the Green Heart student group, the initiative not only facilitated waste management at the event but also aimed to extend these good environmental practices from the university to the wider community, contributing to the creation of a sustainable green society. The initiative, which positively impacted more than 5,000 people, exemplifies the university’s commitment to sustainable practices and community engagement. This activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, specifically Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, focusing on sustainable waste management systems and fostering collaborative efforts for sustainable development.
