Energy & Climate
Smart-building controls, the So Cool campus programme, solar PV expansion, and transparent emissions tracking reduce demand and shift supply.
U1 · Operational Internal Use
Every campus becomes a connected, low-carbon living laboratory.
KMUTT is integrating energy, water, materials, mobility, buildings, and nature into one operational system designed to reach carbon neutrality by 2040—ten years ahead of Thailand’s national target.
Why it matters
Electricity remains KMUTT’s largest emissions source. U1 turns that challenge into a coordinated transition: smarter buildings, renewable electricity, circular resource flows, low-emission travel, and nature-based carbon sequestration across Bangmod, Bang Khun Thian, Ratchaburi, and KX.
Action system
Smart-building controls, the So Cool campus programme, solar PV expansion, and transparent emissions tracking reduce demand and shift supply.
Efficient fixtures, greywater recycling, rainwater harvesting, and per-capita measurement make every cubic metre visible.
Say No to Plastics, Bring Your Own Mug, Waste Rally, and RETURN-NA move waste from disposal toward prevention and recovery.
Electric vehicles and the Walk & Bike Master Plan support safer, healthier, lower-carbon movement between campus spaces.
Operational evidence
Reported totals in tonnes of CO₂ equivalent. Scope 2—purchased electricity—remains the dominant source and the central decarbonisation opportunity.
Selected stories
A campus-wide effort to reduce ambient temperature by 1–2°C, easing cooling loads while improving outdoor comfort.
Waste Rally converts bottles and e-waste into student activity hours, replacing compliance with positive participation.
Connected cycling lanes, parking, repair services, and community programmes make active travel part of campus culture.
U1 makes operational performance visible, testable, and transferable. What succeeds on campus can inform low-carbon districts and cities across Thailand.
