On March 18, 2024, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), in collaboration with the Energy, Environment, Safety, and Health Management Center (EESH), alongside student development networks, the Student Affairs Office, financial aid groups, faculties, departments, and other units within KMUTT, organized the “Green Heart Showcase” event at the Learning Complex Building’s ground floor.
Assoc. Prof. Suchada Chaisawadi, the director of EESH, presented the project objectives, with Assoc.Prof.Dr.Chaowalit Limmaneevichitr, Deputy Vice President for Student and Learning Development, presiding over the opening ceremony. During the lecture session, Ms. Panadda Puangpi, head of the student financial aid group, and Dr. Anusorn Jampieng, representing the Student Affairs Office, discussed the role of development, student support, and driving the “Green Heart Showcase” project towards sustainability.
Students leading the Green Heart initiative, including Mr. Drunpat Wiyaakorn, Mr. Prateep Laoteancchai, and Mr. Pheeranut Trakansatyanukul, exchanged experiences and insights into societal sustainable development efforts. Following this, all participants engaged in the “Ants in Action Workshop: See, Discover, Solve,” learning about sustainability in energy, environment, safety, and problem-solving. They also proposed solutions to create sustainability within the university and its impact on society.
This event aimed to develop competencies in innovation and responsibility towards society and the environment, with a deep understanding of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) DNA, fostering change agents with a Green Heart. Aligned with the SDGs 2030 objectives, the event focused on goals such as promoting sustainable health and well-being (Goal 3), quality education (Goal 4), clean energy access (Goal 7), sustainable cities and communities (Goal 11), sustainable resource use (Goal 12), and climate change mitigation (Goal 13).
