On March 22, 2023, the Energy, Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Management Center (EESH Center) in collaboration with the Office of Physical Resources Management at KMUTT Bang Khun Thian, conducted the “Forest Love Planting” event to observe World Forest and Water Day 2023. Prof. Dr. Suwit Saetia, the President of KMUTT, along with the university’s administration, students, staff, and community, participated in planting 730 trees, including propagating mangrove saplings, in a new area of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, in Phan Thai Norasing Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Sakhon Province.
This activity was organized to conserve and restore the nation’s natural resources, bringing them back to their original abundance and balancing the ecosystem. It also aimed to mitigate the impacts of greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, the event aligned with the policy of sustainable development, focusing on and promoting the project of achieving zero net carbon emissions, contributing to giving back to our society and world.
This initiative supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, including Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, Goal 13: Raising awareness of the importance of limited resources and preparing for climate change and its impacts, Goal 14: Conserving water and marine resources, and Goal 15: Protecting, restoring, and promoting sustainable use of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.
