King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), as a part of the 60+ EarthHour network of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), joined forces with 44 organizations in the EarthMonth network to reduce PM2.5 particulate matter. This collaboration was part of the Action Day PM2.5 BKK event “BMA Invites Partners to Tackle Urban Dust Together.” The event, held on January 28, 2023, at Benjakitti Park in Bangkok, was presided over by Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok.

Organized by the BMA’s Environmental Office in collaboration with government, private sector, educational institutions, and civil society partners, the event aimed to collectively propose solutions to air pollution issues and drive actions towards tangible results. KMUTT committed to various initiatives and encouraged its community to participate actively in reducing PM2.5 levels. This included promoting the use of electric vehicles and bicycles for transportation, organizing tree planting events to decrease dust levels, and creating awareness programs for effectively dealing with particulate matter with minimal environmental impact.

KMUTT’s participation also aligns with its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2040 (KMUTT Carbon Neutrality 2040), contributing to the country’s preparation for Carbon Neutrality by 2050. This initiative exemplifies KMUTT’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development.
