King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), through its Sustainable Activity Promotion Group and the Energy, Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health Management Center (EESH Center), in collaboration with the Student Financial Aid Group, organized the “Train the Trainer: Expanding the Green Heart Initiative Towards a Sustainable Community” event. This event took place on November 13, 2022, during the 2nd Pomelo Run in Samut Songkhram Province. The Green Heart student group took part in extending the effective waste management system to the community. They conducted voluntary waste management activities within the event, using ‘Speaker Bins’ or talking trash bins, to educate attendees on proper waste disposal. Collaborating with youth leaders and students from Wat Bang Sakae School, they aimed to instill environmental consciousness in children and youth. This initiative not only extended good environmental management practices from the university to the community but also aimed to establish a green and sustainable society for the future. Furthermore, it fostered a learning network between the university and the community. The Bangsakae Pomelo Run event, organized by the Bang Sakae community, followed an eco-friendly and nature-centric theme, creating an atmosphere filled with smiles and cheers. The event, with over 2000 participants, aligned with the SDG 2030 goals of establishing sustainable consumption and production patterns (Goal 12) and building partnerships for sustainable development (Goal 17).
