Thai students, international students, and alumni from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), spearheaded by students from the School of Architecture and Design, jointly organized a “Charity Market” to raise funds to help victims of the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, 2025. The earthquake caused widespread damage and resulted in over 2,000 fatalities, with the number expected to rise.
The event was held from April 23 to 26, 2025, between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM, at the multi-purpose area in front of the Multi-Purpose Learning Building (LX), KMUTT Bangmod. All proceeds from the event will be donated to reputable relief organizations to provide urgent and targeted assistance to those affected in the disaster areas.
On April 23, 2025, the event was honored by the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvit Saetia, the President of KMUTT, along with Dr. Krisanapong Kirtikara, University Advisor; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chaowalit Limmaneewijit, Vice President for Student Development and Learning; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chawin Chantharasenawong, Vice President for Internationalization, who all participated in the activity.
In addition to fundraising, the activity aimed to raise awareness about disasters, promote a sense of sharing, and cultivate empathy within society. The event’s operations were carefully planned, transparent, and included a systematic process for selecting reputable disaster relief organizations as beneficiaries.
The organizers hope that this event will not only help raise funds to alleviate the suffering of the earthquake victims but also inspire students, the KMUTT community, and the general public to collectively build a society of sharing and mutual assistance.
