The Disability Support Service Unit of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), in collaboration with the Faculty of Liberal Arts and the Continuing Education Center, organized the “KMUTT Disability Awareness for All” project. This initiative integrates learning activities through the SSC262 Learning Development course to raise awareness about creating an “inclusive society for all” by cultivating a spirit of volunteering for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) among KMUTT students. The aim is to establish a network of volunteers to support PWDs in society. This project is jointly funded by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and comprises three learning sessions.

The recent activity was “Session II: Touching the Heart of Care,” designed to provide participants with real-world experience in caring for and developing individuals with disabilities. The event took place on March 27, 2025, at the Nonthaburi Home for the Disabled, Nonthaburi Province. Ms. Supicha Mananititham, Director of the Nonthaburi Home for the Disabled, and her team warmly welcomed the participants.

During the session, participants attended a lecture on “Roles, Missions, and Services in Enhancing the Quality of Life for Persons with Disabilities” by Ms. Supicha Mananititham. They also engaged in group activities for mutual learning and exchange with individuals with disabilities in various areas of care and development, including physiotherapy and sports, occupational therapy, developmental promotion and music, and nursing. Over 40 participants were involved in activities aimed at understanding the visually impaired. Furthermore, participants learned about coexisting with individuals with disabilities and collaborated in a process to brainstorm and design social innovation models for PWDs.

The project will continue with “Session III: Understanding the Way of Life of Persons with Disabilities” on April 17, 2025, at KMUTT Library, Room LIB 108. This session, facilitated by the Social Innovation Foundation team, aims to foster a deeper understanding of the daily lives of PWDs and methods of assisting them. Participants will also engage in a process to brainstorm and design social innovation models for PWDs.
