On April 9, 2025, the Research and Innovation Division of the Faculty of Science, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), organized an academic training project on the topic “From Lab to Market: Development and FDA Approval of Health Products, Food, and Herbs” at room SCL124, Basic Science Laboratory Building (N7). The aim was to enhance the knowledge and understanding of faculty members, researchers, students, and interested entrepreneurs regarding the guidelines for developing research products into commercial markets correctly according to the regulations of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Assistant Professor Dr. Anawat Pinitsakool, Associate Dean for Administration, Faculty of Science, KMUTT, presided over the opening ceremony. Throughout the day, the event featured expert speakers from the FDA who shared knowledge and exchanged experiences on key issues such as:
- Overview of Health Product Development and the Roles and Responsibilities of the FDA by Ms. Thitikarn Phorphoch, Practicing Pharmacist, Innovative Health Product Consultation Group.
- Food Product Development and Related Laws, including Guidelines for Health Claims on Food by Ms. Orasurang Teerawat, Former Expert in Food Standards.
- Guidelines for Herbal Product Development and Submission for Production Permits for Clinical Research Use by Ms. Jirarat Permpoosri, Specialized Pharmacist, New and Innovative Herbal Product Group.
Assistant Professor Dr. Kemmarut Thaumaphat, Associate Dean for Research, Innovation, and Partnerships, delivered the closing remarks and presented souvenirs to the speakers as a token of appreciation.
This training project reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Science, KMUTT, to drive research outcomes from the laboratory towards sustainable commercialization, while also promoting the development of innovations that comply with government regulations and standards to increase business opportunities for Thai health products, food, and herbs.
