On April 23, 2025, the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), in collaboration with 1 the Thailand Consumer Council, organized a focus group discussion among users and stakeholders of electric vehicles (EVs) and converted electric vehicles. The event, held at the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Bangkok Menam Riverside Hotel, Bangkok, aimed to establish consumer protection standards. The objective was to support the sustainable development of the Thai electric vehicle industry and ensure appropriate consumer rights protection. Recognizing the necessity for studies on various issues related to usage standards, safety, and regulatory guidelines, this activity was organized to gather opinions from relevant stakeholders. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanet Thanittheraphan, Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology, delivered the opening remarks. Mr. Itthiboon Onwongsa, Deputy Secretary-General of the Thailand Consumer Council, spoke about the background and objectives of the project, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Manon Suklamai, the project leader, presented the findings of a study on the electric vehicle ecosystem and consumer protection in Thailand and abroad, to guide the development of standards and consumer rights protection in Thailand. The focus group saw participation and collaboration from various organizations, including the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB), the Department of Land Transport, the Expressway Authority of Thailand, the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT), the Thai Electric Vehicle Conversion Association (TEVCA), the Thai Electric Vehicle Body and Paint Repair Association, entrepreneurs, academics, and over 35 users of electric vehicles and converted electric vehicles.
