KMUTT Welcomes Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha for Coastal Conservation Visit in Bangkhuntien

On his visit to the Bangkok Local Museum in Bangkhuntien, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and his delegation were warmly welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvit Saetia, President of KMUTT, along with university executives and staff. The Prime Minister’s visit was part of an inspection tour and community engagement in the Southern Bangkok District Group.

During the visit, the Prime Minister received a briefing on the “Cultivating Forests in People’s Hearts Based on the King’s Philosophy” project, which addresses coastal erosion in Bangkhuntien. He also participated in the “Mangrove Tree Propagation and Expansion” activity with local residents by launching mangrove propagules into the mangrove forest at Bangkok Sea, Bangkhuntien. Pol. Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, along with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) executives and representatives from the Southern Bangkok District Group, joined in welcoming the delegation.

KMUTT has long collaborated with the Bangkhuntien District Office and other relevant organizations on the “Cultivating Forests in People’s Hearts Based on the King’s Philosophy” project. As an academic institution rooted in the local community, KMUTT continues to engage in activities supporting its role as a sustainable university and community partner.

This initiative aligns with KMUTT’s commitment to the SDG 2030 goals, including:

  • Goal 3: Good health and well-being.
  • Goal 14: Life below water, emphasizing the sustainable use of marine resources.

The project exemplifies KMUTT’s ongoing efforts, involving its leadership, staff, and students, to foster sustainable development and address pressing environmental challenges.
