KMUTT’s Faculty of Engineering Joins Singha R-SA and Three King Mongkut’s Institutions to Inspect Home Electrical Systems for Flood Victims in Lat Krabang

The Faculty of Engineering at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Atip Doolgindachbaporn, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Tanapon Kumpao, a lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering, joined students from the department in a collaborative effort to assist flood victims. They worked alongside Asst. Prof. Dr. Tanapon Tamrongkunanan and students from the Department of Electrical Technology Education, Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology.

The team partnered with the Singha R-SA volunteer network, supported by Boon Rawd Brewery Co., Ltd. and the Phraya Bhirombhakdi Foundation, together with a network comprising three King Mongkut’s institutions: King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), and King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL). Together, they carried out the “Home Electrical Inspection Service Center for Flood Victims” project from 9–11 October 2026, assisting residents affected by flooding in Khlong Song Ton Nun Subdistrict, Lat Krabang District, Bangkok.

The project focused on inspecting and assessing the safety of residential electrical systems after the floodwaters had receded, particularly wiring, electrical equipment, and connections that may have sustained flood damage. The team also provided guidance on restoring electrical systems and preventing hazards arising from current leakage, electric shocks, and short circuits. These efforts aimed to reduce risks to life and property and help residents regain confidence in safely using electricity in their homes.

Participation also gave students opportunities to apply their electrical knowledge and skills in practical settings while learning to work with faculty members, specialists, and partner organizations. By using their academic knowledge to benefit local communities, students developed a stronger sense of public service and social responsibility.

This collaboration reflects the Faculty of Engineering’s commitment to integrating engineering expertise with community service. It also demonstrates how partnerships between educational institutions and the private sector can help alleviate hardship, restore the safety of household electrical systems, and support the recovery of quality of life for people affected by flooding.
