KMUTT Green Heart Team Wins First Prize for Sustainability Project on Reducing Single-Use Plastics
The Green Heart Team from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) secured First Prize in the Student Sustainability Project Competition under the theme “Reducing Single-Use Plastics in Universities”. The award was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Parinya Dewanruji, Chair of the Sustainable University Network of Thailand (SUN Thailand), during the 3rd SUN Thailand Conference 2018 held on October 25, 2018, at Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus.
The conference, titled “Action for the Goals 2018: Sustainability in Action,” featured the final round of the competition, judged by representatives from the Pollution Control Department, Green News Agency, and Greenpeace.
The Green Heart team’s presentation showcased:
- Their role in policy development and activity implementation within KMUTT to reduce single-use plastics.
- Expansion of their efforts to schools and communities to foster environmental consciousness and promote behavioral changes in reducing plastic waste.
The initiative reflects KMUTT’s tangible achievements in promoting and implementing measures to reduce single-use plastics, contributing to environmental sustainability. The Green Heart team’s success was supported by the EESH Center, the Sustainable Activity Promotion Unit, and the Student Financial Aid Unit, along with collaboration across the KMUTT community.
This accomplishment aligns with SDG 2030, particularly:
- Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
