On July 15, 2024, at the Four Wings Hotel Sukhumvit 26, the Logistics Excellence Center of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pongchai Athikomrattanakul, Director of the Logistics Excellence Center and project advisor, organized a seminar to gather opinions on the project studying the development of innovation in high-potential service sectors. The event aimed to present project information and facilitate a discussion session. It was honored by Mr. Poonpong Naiyanapakorn, Director of the Trade Policy and Strategy Office (TPSO) under the Ministry of Commerce, who presided over the opening ceremony.
The panel discussion featured distinguished guests including Mr. Surarath Niamklang, Acting Advisor on Policy and Planning from the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council, Lt. Dr. Thanet Soraset, Member and Secretary-General of the Digital Council of Thailand and Vice Chairman of the V-Serve Group, and Dr. Piyanuch Samrit, President of the Thai Transportation and Logistics Association and CEO of WeMove Platform Co., Ltd. They discussed the topic “Advancements and Importance of Innovation in the Logistics Business” before moving into an open floor session with over 70 participants from the public, private, and academic sectors, as well as other interested parties.
The seminar aimed to raise awareness of the crucial role of the logistics business in driving the national economy. It focused on studying the development of innovation in high-potential service sectors (logistics service business) to understand the economic overview, growth trends, potential, and conducive environment for technology and innovation adoption. The seminar also looked at best practices from model countries where technology and innovation are effectively integrated into logistics services. The goal was to formulate policy recommendations to develop Thai entrepreneurs in the logistics service sector by leveraging technology and innovation to enhance management efficiency and logistics service delivery across the supply chain. This would strengthen businesses, enabling them to adapt to the modern economy and expand their export services in the future.
The opinions, challenges, and opportunities shared during this seminar will significantly contribute to the policy recommendations for developing Thai entrepreneurs in the logistics service sector through technology and innovation adoption. The Logistics Excellence Center will integrate these insights with related studies to create a comprehensive report and organize further seminars to disseminate the findings to all relevant sectors.
