KMUTT Celebrates National Tree Day 2019 with Tree Planting and Sustainability Activities
On May 17, 2019, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), through the Sustainability Promotion Unit of the EESH Center, organized a National Tree Day event. The ceremony was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Thanitsorn Jirapornchai, Vice President for Planning and Strategy, who led staff and students in planting Ruang Phueng trees, the royal tree of His Majesty King Rama X, and Thong Urai trees in honor of the Coronation Ceremony of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn and in celebration of KMUTT’s 60th Anniversary.
The event took place near Baan Thamraksa (Male Student Dormitory) and was a demonstration of loyalty and devotion to the King while contributing to environmental conservation.
Additionally, 50 members of the Green Heart students and the Green Cycling Club participated in a volunteer activity under the theme “Doing Good Deeds from the Heart”. The group cycled around the campus and to the surrounding community of Wat Buaphan, collecting litter and collaborating with the Thung Khru District Office to plant 60 Thong Urai trees. This initiative aimed to reduce pollution, improve sustainability, and strengthen community relationships.
The event supported SDG Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by creating greener and healthier urban spaces.
This activity is part of a series of events running from April to July 2019. Interested participants can contact the Green Society Building for more information about upcoming activities.
Through these efforts, KMUTT continues to promote sustainability, environmental conservation, and community engagement, fostering a cleaner and greener future for all.
