On March 11, 2023, the Energy, Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Management Center (EESH Center), in collaboration with the Office of Physical Resources Management of KMUTT Bang Khun Thian and the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, organized the “New Generation of Civil Engineers with a Green Heart: Forest Love Planting” event. Professors, students, staff, and the KMUTT community came together to plant 700 trees, including propagating mangrove saplings, in a new area at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Phan Thai Norasing Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Sakhon Province.
This initiative was undertaken to conserve and restore the nation’s natural resources to their original state and balance the ecosystem. It also aimed to reduce the impacts of greenhouse gas emissions. The activity was successful in reducing 2,869 kg of CO2 emissions. This event aligns with sustainable development policies, focusing on and promoting the project of achieving zero net carbon emissions as part of giving back to our society and the world.
The event supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, including Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, Goal 13: Raising awareness of the importance of limited resources and preparing for climate change and its impacts, Goal 14: Conserving water and marine resources, and Goal 15: Protecting, restoring, and promoting sustainable use of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.
