KMUTT Celebrates World Soil Day and Thai Environment Day with Tree Planting and Environmental Conservation Activities
On December 3, 2018, Asst. Prof. Sumet Angkasirikhul, Vice President for Human Resources, presided over the opening ceremony of the World Soil Day and Thai Environment Day Exhibition at the Green Society Building. The event included the planting of 199 trees and the sowing of Crotalaria (sun hemp) seeds as a tribute to the perseverance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej in soil conservation and development.
The activities also featured a nature and environmental conservation initiative under the theme “KMUTT Clean and Waste-Free.” Students, staff, and members of the surrounding community participated in campus-wide cleaning efforts to promote sustainable waste management practices.
The event aligns with the SDG 2030 goals, specifically:
- Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns, minimizing environmental harm.
- Goal 13: Combat climate change through tree planting and environmental conservation to mitigate global warming.
- Goal 15: Protect and restore terrestrial ecosystems by planting trees to revitalize habitats for various species.
- Goal 17: Build partnerships with local communities to foster sustainability.
The event saw participation from over 200 attendees, including university executives, students, and community members, highlighting KMUTT’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement in promoting sustainable development.
