On August 28, 2023, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) spearheaded by the Energy, Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health Management Center (EESH) and supported by the KMUTT Safety Work Network, organized its 21st Work Safety Week. The event, themed “KMUTT’s Commitment to Clean Energy, Health, Safety, and Sustainable Environmental Care: Towards Carbon Neutrality,” took place at the multipurpose plaza of the Learning and Science Building.

Aimed at fostering awareness, understanding, and consciousness regarding workplace safety in the ‘New Normal’, the event targeted both students and staff across all levels of the university. Presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suwit Saetia, KMUTT’s president, along with other university executives, the ceremony commenced with a declaration of intentions to drive the university towards integrated health promotion and well-being.

This year, eight departments jointly announced their safety policies. These included the Building and Place Management Office, the Student Affairs Office, the Student Dormitory, the Physical Resource Management Office of Bang Khun Thian, the Health and Hygiene Service Group, the Benefit and Asset Management Group, the Strategic Communication and Marketing Group, and the EESH Center.

The event’s activities ranged from awarding labs that met safety standards, as assessed by the National Research Council’s Peer Evaluation system, to recognizing those who have promoted a safety culture within KMUTT. Furthermore, First Aid Kits were distributed to various internal units of the university.

Additionally, from August 28-31, 2023, the event hosted sustainability exhibitions and various activity booths. These endeavors are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, particularly:

  • Goal 3: Support and promote good health and well-being.
  • Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and quality education for sustainable development.
  • Goal 11: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
  • Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.

Through these initiatives, KMUTT emphasizes its commitment to fostering a safe, healthy, and sustainable environment for its community.
