King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), led by the Sustainable Activities Promotion Group and in collaboration with the KMUTT Green Bike Club, organized the KMUTT Walk and Bike Society event, promoting sustainable transportation, on September 7 and 13, 2022. The activities included ‘Beginner Biking’ and ‘Volunteer Spirit in Bicycle Maintenance,’ featuring guest speakers Mr. Phatchar Thanasawasarakul and Mr. Akarachai Kaewsomnuk imparting knowledge to participants.
Furthermore, university administrators, staff, and event participants cycled together to plant trees and vegetables in celebration of Suan Nakharin Day and National Agriculture Day at the Thammaraksa Dormitory (female dormitory). These activities were designed to develop skills in correctly cycling, repairing, and maintaining bicycles. Cyclists from local biking clubs were also invited to train and enhance the students’ skills.
Additionally, the campaign encouraged students and staff to use bicycles instead of cars. It also involved promoting and announcing the university’s policies on environmental conservation and supporting a cycling and walking culture within KMUTT. The KMUTT Walk and Bike Society event, with active participation from the entire KMUTT community, attracted over 100 people from the university. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, specifically Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, and Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
