KMUTT Marks 60th Anniversary with “Green School Network: 60 Schools to Tackle PM2.5” Initiative

On June 17, 2019, in celebration of its 60th anniversary, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), in collaboration with the Student Financial Assistance Office, the EESH Center, and the Green Heart Team, organized an educational and leadership activity under the theme “United for Understanding and Addressing PM2.5 Pollution.” This event, part of the KMUTT Green School Network: 60 Schools to Tackle PM2.5 program, was held at Na Luang School.

The Green Heart Team presented and donated an iCheck device, a PM2.5 air quality monitor they had developed, to Na Luang School. The device allows schools in high-risk areas to measure air quality levels and implement appropriate preventive measures. The team also organized integrated activities and shared educational materials on PM2.5 to build awareness and foster sustainable solutions for addressing air pollution.

The program aimed to provide knowledge and tools to participants, empowering them to take action against PM2.5 pollution while expanding the reach of best practices to surrounding communities.

This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, specifically:

  • Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being – Promoting health and improved quality of life through education and action.
  • Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – Ensuring sustainable urban living by tackling air pollution challenges.

By equipping schools and communities with the knowledge and resources to combat PM2.5, KMUTT continues to lead efforts in sustainability, fostering a healthier environment and society for future generations.
