KMUTT Expands Green School Network with PM2.5 Awareness Initiative at Bang Mod Tan Pow Wittayakhan School

On June 25, 2019, in celebration of its 60th anniversary, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), through the Student Financial Assistance Office, the EESH Center, and the Green Heart Team, organized a leadership and educational activity at Bang Mod Tan Pow Wittayakhan School. Themed “United for Understanding and Addressing PM2.5 Pollution,” this event is part of the KMUTT Green School Network: 60 Schools to Tackle PM2.5 initiative, promoting sustainable well-being and green practices.

The Green Heart Team developed and donated an iCheck device, an air quality monitoring tool designed to measure PM2.5 levels, to the school. The team also provided educational materials and conducted hands-on activities to build awareness and understanding of PM2.5 pollution and its management. These efforts equip schools in high-risk areas to monitor air quality, develop preventive measures, and implement sustainable solutions effectively.

The activity targeted creating deeper understanding among teachers and students, encouraging them to share knowledge and adopt environmentally responsible practices within their communities.

The program aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, particularly:

  • Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being – Promoting health through education and actionable strategies to mitigate air pollution.
  • Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – Encouraging sustainable urban living by addressing environmental challenges.

By fostering environmental awareness and equipping schools with tools to combat PM2.5, KMUTT continues to advance its mission of sustainability, empowering communities to contribute to a healthier and greener future.
