On July 19, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Suchada Chaisawasdi, Director of the Energy Environment Safety and Health Center (EESH), represented King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) at the opening ceremony of the “Green University: Drop, Turn, Make the World Remember” project. The event, held at the Customer Solution Center (CSC) at the Energy Complex, Building A, Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Bangkok, was attended by KMUTT executives and the student leadership group Green Heart, including Ms. Thanaporn Niruttitisart and Mr. Peernut Trakarnsattanukul from the Department of Educational Technology and Communications, Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology.
Dr. Chayan Janwatsue, Deputy General Manager of Sustainability, PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, reported the objectives of the activity, while Ms. Saichon Submak-Udom, Acting Head of Public Relations and Business Relations Unit, Zadavance Info Service Public Company Limited, discussed the importance of collaboration between the private sector and educational institutions to promote this campaign. PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited and Zadavance Info Service Public Company Limited organized the event to enhance knowledge on safe and environmentally friendly waste separation and management. The initiative also aims to instill awareness and participation in changing behaviors for waste separation before disposal within the university.
The KMUTT students, particularly the Green Heart group, played a vital role in igniting the power of the new generation with a green heart to participate in the campaign. This involved competitions to collect used electronic and clean plastic waste, bringing them back into the recycling and upcycling process for proper management. These efforts are directed towards behavioral change for environmental conservation and driving a sustainable green society within KMUTT.
The operation of this project aligns with the SDGs 2030, specifically Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), focusing on sustainable development.
