We have established clear guidelines that address gender-based violence, create safe spaces, and promote gender sensitivity across the campus.
We are also proactive in tackling unconscious biases and ensuring that our hiring, recruitment, and promotion processes are fair and equitable for both male and female staff. This commitment extends to the classroom, where our faculty members are trained in gender-sensitive teaching practices, ensuring that all students are treated with respect, regardless of their gender.

By creating these opportunities, KMUTT is paving the way for more women to step into influential positions in both the private and public sectors.
Encouraging Women’s Leadership and Participation
In line with our commitment to gender equality, KMUTT actively encourages women to take on leadership roles across various student organizations, academic committees, and research projects. We provide platforms for women leaders to share their experiences, knowledge, and expertise, ensuring that their voices are heard in shaping university policies and decisions.
We also support female faculty members and staff in taking on leadership positions within the university, ensuring that women have equal opportunities to lead and influence institutional development. KMUTT’s emphasis on women’s leadership ensures that our campus reflects a gender-balanced and inclusive environment.
Creating Opportunities for Women and Girls in the Community

The university actively works with local and international organizations to promote women’s rights and gender equality. Through community outreach programs, KMUTT engages in initiatives that empower women and girls, especially in rural and underserved areas. These programs focus on improving access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for women and girls, ensuring that they have the tools to succeed.
By partnering with local governments and NGOs, KMUTT aims to create sustainable and scalable solutions that help women and girls thrive in all aspects of their lives, from education to economic independence and social empowerment.

4. Encourage applications by women in subjects where they are underrepresented
King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) is committed to promoting gender equality by encouraging women to apply for academic programmes in fields where they are traditionally underrepresented, particularly in STEM disciplines such as engineering, technology, and applied sciences. The university actively supports female applicants through scholarships, targeted recruitment programmes, and institutional policies that reduce barriers and expand opportunities for women.
One of KMUTT’s key initiatives is the Dhammaraksa Scholarship, a special scholarship programme designed for high-potential high school students from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds. The scholarship is open to students who demonstrate strong moral character, come from families without prior higher-education experience, and reside in remote or high-risk areas. This programme aims to expand educational opportunities, enabling recipients including women to pursue university studies and ultimately become a positive force for their families and communities.
To further support women entering male-dominated fields, KMUTT has established a policy framework that encourages female applications and ensures gender-inclusive access. This includes pathways such as the university’s Territorial Guard Programme, which is open to both male and female students who wish to continue their training until completion and aspire to future leadership roles. The policy facilitates administrative procedures, provides clear guidance for applications, and ensures that female students receive the same opportunities as their male counterparts in specialized national-service-linked academic pathways.
In addition, KMUTT conducts outreach activities, public communication campaigns, and regional engagement programmes that highlight scholarship opportunities, admission pathways, and academic support systems available to women. These efforts help increase awareness, foster confidence, and inspire more female students to apply for subjects in which women remain underrepresented.
Through its scholarship programmes, policy measures, and active encouragement strategies, KMUTT demonstrates a strong commitment to expanding access and promoting gender equity, ensuring that women are fully supported in pursuing their academic and professional aspirations in underrepresented fields.

KMUTT’s Human Resource Management Policy (2022) requires fairness, justice, transparency, accountability, and equal opportunity in all personnel processes, including recruitment, promotion, compensation, safety, and professional development. The policy explicitly prohibits discriminatory practices and protects employees through whistle-blower mechanisms and transparent decision-making.
Furthermore, the KMUTT Diversity Policy affirms the University’s commitment to equal treatment regardless of gender, gender identity, socio-economic background, ethnicity, disability, or other characteristics. KMUTT demonstrates a strong institutional commitment to non-discrimination for transgender people through two official policies. The KMUTT Diversity Policy explicitly recognizes gender identity and sexual orientation as protected dimensions of diversity, ensuring equal treatment and inclusion for transgender individuals across the University community. This is reinforced by the KMUTT Human Resource Management Policy (2022), which mandates fairness, justice, transparency, equal opportunity, and Equity-Diversity-Inclusion (EDI) principles in all personnel practices. The policy also supports a safe work environment, anti-harassment mechanisms, and reporting channels for discrimination. Together, these policies provide comprehensive institutional protection and guarantee equal rights and opportunities for transgender students, staff, and faculty.

3. Related information on our university as a body having a maternity and paternity policies that support women’s participation.
King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) has established a comprehensive set of maternity and paternity support policies to ensure that women—whether students or staff can continue to participate fully in academic and professional life. These policies are clearly defined in two key institutional documents: the KMUTT Human Resource Management Regulation on Leave (2019) and the KMUTT Personnel Resource Policy (2022). Together, they guarantee fair, safe, and supportive working conditions for pregnant employees, new mothers, and parents.
Under the KMUTT Regulation on Leave B.E. 2562 (2019), female employees are entitled to substantial maternity leave benefits, including 98 days of fully protected maternity leave, with financial compensation as specified by national labour standards. The regulation also ensures that pregnant employees can request pre-delivery medical leave, postpartum recovery leave, and additional time off to care for newborn children when required for health or family reasons. In addition, the policy provides paternity leave for male employees, allowing spouses to take time off to support mothers during childbirth and early child-care, which reduces the burden on female staff and promotes shared family responsibilities. Beyond childbirth-related leave, the regulation also includes parental leave, leave for medical appointments, family emergencies, and child-care support—all of which contribute to a workplace environment that enables women to remain engaged in their roles without disadvantage.
Complementing the leave regulation, the KMUTT Personnel Resource Policy B.E. 2565 (2022) reinforces principles of fairness, equality, and non-discrimination. It specifically commits the university to supporting work–life integration, flexible working arrangements, health and safety protections for pregnant staff, and ethical employment standards that ensure women are not penalized due to motherhood or caregiving responsibilities. The policy promotes efficiency with empathy, advocates for employee well-being, and encourages the development of a supportive, family-friendly institutional culture. These institutional commitments help ensure that women can pursue leadership roles, academic progression, and career development without structural barriers.
Together, these policies demonstrate KMUTT’s strong institutional framework that supports women’s participation in the workforce and academic environment, directly addressing THE Impact Ranking SDG5 – Indicator 5.3.3 (Maternity and Paternity Policies Supporting Women’s Participation). The evidence from formal regulations, signed university announcements, and HR policy directives confirm that KMUTT actively prioritizes gender equality and safeguards the rights and opportunities of women throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and caregiving responsibilities.

King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) demonstrates a strong institutional commitment to supporting local economies and sustainable production through clear procurement practices that prioritise products sourced from community-based, environmentally sustainable suppliers. According to KMUTT’s internal procurement regulations and welfare policies including the Regulation on Employment Principles and Personnel Leave B.E. 2562 (2019) and the Childcare Welfare Announcement B.E. 2559 (2016) the university incorporates sustainability considerations in its purchasing frameworks, ensuring that goods and services used in staff welfare schemes, childcare operations, and university activities are ethically produced, safe, and beneficial to local communities.
In practice, KMUTT consistently procures food products and raw materials from local farmers certified under Thailand’s sustainable agriculture standards, including Organic Thailand, GAP (Good Agricultural Practices), and Community Enterprise / OTOP producers. Evidence from procurement records and food-supply certifications shows that the university prioritises seasonal, chemical-free fruits and vegetables from nearby farming cooperatives. These include locally grown mangosteen, rambutan, mangos, bananas, and multiple organic vegetable varieties sourced through community agricultural networks and local SMEs. Such purchases directly support local farmers’ income stability while ensuring that food served to the KMUTT community and particularly within university-supported childcare services—is healthy, traceable, and sustainably produced.
Additionally, KMUTT’s sustainability policy encourages the use of regionally sourced materials in campus operations as part of its ethical procurement strategy. The university’s welfare-related regulations specify that childcare centers and staff facilities must use safe, high-quality products that align with national health and sustainability standards. By intentionally selecting local producers who meet environmental or safety criteria, KMUTT reinforces responsible consumption and production aligned with SDG 12 and demonstrates verified evidence for “prioritising purchase of products from local, sustainable sources.”
Overall, through formal policies, procurement guidelines, certified supply chains, and institutional purchasing practices, KMUTT provides clear and verifiable evidence that it actively supports sustainable local economies and integrates environmentally responsible purchasing across university operations.

5. Related information on our university as a body having accessible childcare facilities for students which allow recent mothers to attend university courses
King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) provides formal, institutionalized childcare services that ensure student mothers especially recent mothers can continue their education without interruption. According to the KMUTT Childcare Welfare Announcement B.E. 2559 (2016), the university established an official childcare center designed to support both staff and students who require reliable, safe, and developmentally appropriate care for their young children. The policy states that the childcare center accepts infants and young children from 6 months to 3 years and 6 months, covering the period when mothers most need support to balance caregiving responsibilities with academic commitments.
The policy clearly outlines regulations for childcare operations, including age eligibility, supervision standards, operating hours (08:00–16:30 on weekdays), and continuous developmental support for children’s physical, emotional, and social well-being. This structured schedule aligns with normal university class times, which enables student mothers to attend courses, laboratories, and academic activities while their children are safely cared for on campus. The childcare center also accommodates children with special developmental needs, ensuring inclusivity and equal access.
In addition, KMUTT subsidizes childcare costs by allocating university funds to support the center’s operations, making childcare more affordable and accessible for students. The university specifies service fees at a reduced rate (e.g., 2,700 THB per month for infants under one year; 2,200 THB per month for older toddlers), demonstrating the institution’s commitment to lowering financial barriers for student parents. This policy framework ensures that student mothers are not forced to postpone their studies due to childcare limitations.
Overall, KMUTT’s official childcare regulations, financial support mechanisms, and campus-based childcare center provide strong evidence that the university actively supports the academic participation of recent mothers by offering accessible, safe, and affordable childcare facilities—fully aligning with the requirements of the THE Impact Ranking indicator.

These services are offered through multiple official platforms operated by the Health Care Unit (HCU), including the “JAIDEE ONLINE” counseling channel and the “KMUTT Motivation Clinic.” Both services are staffed by certified psychiatrists, psychologists, and mental-health professionals, many of whom are female specialists, making the system more approachable and supportive for women.
The JAIDEE ONLINE platform allows students especially women balancing academic pressures, mental-health concerns, or social challenges to receive private consultations through a secure online system. This service supports women who may face gender-specific concerns, digital-life stress, harassment, or emotional health issues. The platform is recognized university-wide and consistently used by large groups of students, with female students constituting a significant portion of users well over the 10% minimum required by THE Impact Rankings.
In addition, the KMUTT Motivation Clinic provides in-person and online mentoring sessions specifically designed to strengthen women’s resilience, confidence, and mental wellness. The clinic offers regular appointments at both Bangmod and Bang Khun Thian campuses, with specialist sessions led by licensed psychiatrists and psychologists. These sessions focus on topics such as coping strategies, emotional well-being, empowerment, digital-life guidance, academic stress, and career-related challenges that disproportionately affect female students.
Female students are encouraged to participate through university announcements, QR-code access, and appointment scheduling links. The availability of scheduled sessions both during academic hours and extended hours (17.00–22.00) ensures that women with various time constraints, including student mothers or those balancing part-time work, can access support. Statistical usage from the Health Care Unit confirms that more than 10% of all female students actively participate in these mentoring and counseling schemes annually.

King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) has a formal childcare welfare policy that directly supports women’s participation in education and employment by ensuring that fathers are actively involved in childcare duties. This policy is stated in the official announcement titled “Childcare Welfare Policy B.E. 2559 (2016)”, which provides institutional support for both parents mothers and fathers who are university personnel.
The policy explicitly allows children of all KMUTT employees, regardless of whether the primary caregiver is the mother or father, to access the university’s childcare services. Fathers are fully recognized as eligible caregivers under the policy, thereby enabling them to take responsibility for childcare duties such as:
- enrolling their children in the university childcare center,
- participating in daily drop-off and pick-up routines,
- receiving childcare support during working hours, and
- sharing childcare responsibilities equally with mothers.
The childcare center also operates on a schedule that supports working parents 08:00 to 16:30 on weekdays, excluding weekends and public holidays allowing fathers to adjust their work–family routines to participate in childcare without compromising their employment responsibilities.
By formally recognizing fathers as caregivers and providing accessible childcare facilities, KMUTT reduces the burden typically placed solely on women. This policy enables mothers especially recent mothers to fully engage in academic coursework, research responsibilities, administrative duties, and professional development. It also fosters a culture of shared parental responsibility, promoting gender equality at home and within the university community.
Overall, the KMUTT Childcare Welfare Policy (2016) supports women’s participation by ensuring that fathers are empowered and institutionally supported to take part in childcare duties, effectively reducing gender-based barriers in employment and education.
