KMUTT Hosts Tree-Planting Event to Celebrate International Day of Forests and World Water Day
From March 20–22, 2019, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvit Saetia, President of KMUTT, organized a tree-planting activity to create vertical gardens and expand green spaces on campus. The event, held under the theme “Leaving No One Behind”, aimed to raise awareness about forest and water conservation.
The activity took place at the Green Society Building, attracting over 250 participants, including KMUTT students and staff. Attendees actively participated in planting trees and received seedlings and souvenirs to encourage tree planting at home.
The event served as a platform to promote environmental awareness, with a focus on fostering the Green Heart mindset among students and staff. This initiative encouraged efficient resource utilization and environmental preservation while empowering participants to become Change Agents who can spread knowledge and advocate for energy conservation, environmental safety, and sustainability within their communities.
The activity aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, specifically:
- Goal 15: Life on Land – Protecting and restoring terrestrial ecosystems, including forests.
- Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation – Ensuring sustainable management of water resources.
This event highlighted KMUTT’s dedication to sustainability and its ongoing efforts to integrate environmental conservation into the university’s culture and beyond, fostering positive impacts on society and the environment.
