The Energy Environmental Safety and Health Center (EESH) at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi organized a hands-on training course titled “Chemical and Hazardous Waste Management Systems” on January 26, 2024, in the UX702 meeting room of the Multi-Purpose Building. This prestigious training session was facilitated by a team of experts from the EESH Center, aiming to provide comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in managing chemical substances and hazardous waste within the organization.
The program was designed to review and enhance the understanding of chemical management systems, including data systems, storage, and disposal of unused chemicals. It focused on tracking chemical data movements and managing the risks associated with chemical hazards. Additionally, the training covered hazardous waste management systems, emphasizing data recording, segregation, storage, and disposal processes to ensure effective waste management.
This initiative aimed to equip personnel with the necessary readiness and skills to implement and further disseminate the acquired knowledge. It also sought to develop and recommend practices that promote a safe laboratory working culture, protecting both individuals and their colleagues. Moreover, the program aimed to foster a sense of responsibility among researchers, analysts, and scientists towards societal and environmental sustainability.
Aligning with the SDGs 2030 goals, this training program supports Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, and Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, emphasizing the importance of sustainable waste management practices in achieving these global objectives.
