KMUTT Expands Green School Network with PM2.5 Awareness Program at Wat Thung Khru School

On June 24, 2019, in celebration of its 60th anniversary, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), through the collaboration of the Student Financial Assistance Office, the EESH Center, and the Green Heart Team, conducted an educational and leadership activity at Wat Thung Khru (Phueng Sai Anusorn) School. Themed “United for Understanding and Addressing PM2.5 Pollution,” the event was part of the KMUTT Green School Network: 60 Schools to Tackle PM2.5 initiative, promoting sustainable social well-being through environmental awareness.

The Green Heart Team developed and donated an iCheck device, an air quality monitoring tool for PM2.5 levels, to Wat Thung Khru School. The device helps high-risk areas monitor air quality, identify pollution levels, and implement preventive measures. Alongside the donation, the team conducted integrated activities and provided educational materials about PM2.5 to raise awareness and empower students and staff to tackle air pollution sustainably.

The program aimed to expand knowledge and foster a culture of environmental stewardship within schools and communities, creating practical solutions for air pollution management.

This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, specifically:

  • Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being – Ensuring health and promoting well-being through knowledge and preventive action.
  • Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – Promoting sustainable practices in urban and community settings to improve quality of life.

Through this program, KMUTT continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability and environmental education, fostering meaningful change and creating a greener future for communities and society.
