KMUTT Organizes Knowledge-Sharing Event to Address PM2.5 and Foster Sustainable Green Communities

On February 12, 2019, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), led by the Media Arts program under the Media Arts and Technology Joint Program, in collaboration with the EESH Center, Bangpakok 1 Hospital’s Health Services Unit, and the Physical Resources Administration Office at KMUTT Bangkhunthian, hosted an educational event for over 200 students from the Engineering-Science Classroom (ESC) program at KMUTT Bangkhunthian. The event was themed “United for Understanding and Combating PM2.5 Pollution” and aimed to promote sustainable green societies through enhanced public health awareness.

The activity, part of the KMUTT Green School Network, took place on the second floor of the WMW Dormitory Building at KMUTT Bangkhunthian. Led by Asst. Prof. Boonliang Kaewnapha, Head of the Media Arts program, faculty members and students showcased various innovations and media related to PM2.5 pollution. Bangpakok 1 Hospital representatives provided knowledge on coping with PM2.5 pollution and conducted basic health checks.

This initiative sought to enhance awareness among students, staff, and surrounding communities about the dangers of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) pollution, which often exceeds safety standards. Additionally, the program aimed to expand knowledge and effective management practices to surrounding communities and society, fostering understanding of the causes and prevention strategies for air pollution.

The event aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, specifically:

  • Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all.

This effort underscored KMUTT’s dedication to addressing public health challenges, sharing knowledge with communities, and paving the way for practical and sustainable solutions to air pollution.
