On June 21, 2566, the Center for Energy, Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health (EESH) in collaboration with the Physical Resources Management Office of KMUTT Bang Khun Thian, organized the monthly “Mangrove Forest Planting” event. The initiative saw participation from the university’s executives, students, staff, and the broader KMUTT community, coming together to plant trees, cultivate mangrove saplings, and establish a coastal forest comprising 2,000 plants. The site chosen for this eco-initiative was a new area in the King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, located in Tambon Phanthai Norasing, Mueang District, Samut Sakhon Province.
The primary aim of this event was to conserve and rejuvenate the nation’s natural resources, restoring the ecological balance and mitigating the impacts of greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, this effort aligns with the sustainable development goals emphasizing the promotion and implementation of net-zero carbon projects, reflecting a commitment to give back to society and our planet.
Furthermore, this activity promotes several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, Goal 13: Climate Action focusing on creating awareness about limited resources and preparing for climatic changes and its repercussions. It also supports Goal 14: Life Below Water, emphasizing the conservation of aquatic resources and seas, and Goal 15: Life on Land, which focuses on the protection, restoration, and sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems.
