At King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), we are dedicated to creating an inclusive and equitable environment for all members of our community. As part of our mission to align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5: Achieve Gender Equality and Empower All Women and Girls, KMUTT has been actively working toward breaking down barriers and providing equal opportunities for both women and men, with a strong focus on empowering women in every aspect of academic, professional, and personal growth.

Promoting Gender Equality in Education

KMUTT is committed to offering equal access to quality education for all students, regardless of their gender. Through our diverse academic programs, we actively encourage female students to pursue careers in fields traditionally dominated by men, such as engineering, science, and technology. With a focus on STEM education, KMUTT has implemented various initiatives aimed at inspiring and supporting young women to pursue degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

We also work towards closing the gender gap in leadership positions within the academic sphere. KMUTT provides various platforms for female students to engage in research, leadership roles, and community activities, ensuring they have the necessary resources and guidance to become successful in their respective fields. Furthermore, we ensure that female students have access to mentorship programs, career guidance, and opportunities that support their personal and academic growth.

Gender-Inclusive Campus Environment

KMUTT fosters a gender-inclusive campus environment that promotes equal rights and opportunities. Our policies are designed to protect the rights of women and girls, ensuring they are free from any form of discrimination, harassment, or violence. We have established clear guidelines that address gender-based violence, create safe spaces, and promote gender sensitivity across the campus.

We are also proactive in tackling unconscious biases and ensuring that our hiring, recruitment, and promotion processes are fair and equitable for both male and female staff. This commitment extends to the classroom, where our faculty members are trained in gender-sensitive teaching practices, ensuring that all students are treated with respect, regardless of their gender.

Empowering Women Through Research and Innovation

KMUTT also places a strong emphasis on empowering women through research and innovation. The university encourages female faculty members and students to take active roles in conducting research and developing technologies that contribute to societal change. Female researchers at KMUTT are actively involved in addressing issues that disproportionately affect women and girls, such as gender-based violence, reproductive health, and gender disparities in STEM fields.

We believe in fostering an environment where women in academia can thrive. Our research programs support female researchers and aim to bridge the gender gap in academic leadership positions. With dedicated resources and support for female researchers, KMUTT strives to create an environment that enables women to innovate, lead, and make meaningful contributions to their respective fields.

Supporting Women’s Career Development

At KMUTT, empowering women extends beyond the classroom. We recognize that career development is an essential part of achieving gender equality. The university provides career services and networking opportunities to help women excel in the job market. KMUTT has strong partnerships with industries, corporations, and startups, ensuring that our female graduates have access to internships, employment opportunities, and leadership training in various sectors.

Through workshops, conferences, and collaborations with women’s networks, we offer female students and staff the chance to build the skills and confidence they need to take on leadership roles in their future careers. By creating these opportunities, KMUTT is paving the way for more women to step into influential positions in both the private and public sectors.

Encouraging Women’s Leadership and Participation

In line with our commitment to gender equality, KMUTT actively encourages women to take on leadership roles across various student organizations, academic committees, and research projects. We provide platforms for women leaders to share their experiences, knowledge, and expertise, ensuring that their voices are heard in shaping university policies and decisions.

We also support female faculty members and staff in taking on leadership positions within the university, ensuring that women have equal opportunities to lead and influence institutional development. KMUTT’s emphasis on women’s leadership ensures that our campus reflects a gender-balanced and inclusive environment.

Creating Opportunities for Women and Girls in the Community

KMUTT’s commitment to gender equality extends beyond the university, reaching out to the local community. The university actively works with local and international organizations to promote women’s rights and gender equality. Through community outreach programs, KMUTT engages in initiatives that empower women and girls, especially in rural and underserved areas. These programs focus on improving access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for women and girls, ensuring that they have the tools to succeed.

By partnering with local governments and NGOs, KMUTT aims to create sustainable and scalable solutions that help women and girls thrive in all aspects of their lives, from education to economic independence and social empowerment.

As part of its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 5: Achieve Gender Equality and Empower All Women and Girls, KMUTT is making great strides toward creating a more equitable and inclusive society. Through education, research, career development, and community engagement, KMUTT is empowering women and girls to reach their full potential and succeed in every aspect of their lives. With a strong focus on gender equality, women’s leadership, and equal opportunities, KMUTT is shaping the next generation of empowered women who will lead positive change across the world.
