King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) Organizes the 18th KMUTT Safety Week Under the Theme “KMUTT: Stay Safe and Healthy in the New Normal”

On September 14, 2020, KMUTT, led by the Energy, Environment, Safety, and Health (EESH) Management Center, hosted the 18th KMUTT Safety Week under the theme “KMUTT: Stay Safe and Healthy in the New Normal” at the multipurpose area on the first floor of the Multidisciplinary Learning Building. The event aimed to enhance knowledge, understanding, and awareness of workplace safety among students and staff, fostering a culture of safety in the New Normal era.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvit Saetia, President of KMUTT, accompanied by the university’s executive team. Highlights of the event included the presentation of honor plaques to departments that contributed to innovation and problem-solving during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, first-aid kits were distributed to various university units, and the Green Nudges Campaign, titled “United for a Sustainable University,” was officially launched, with student organizations and the student council playing key roles in its development and promotion.

This year’s KMUTT Safety Week, held from September 14 to 18, 2020, was designed to align with the New Normal way of life. Activities were conducted in two formats:

  1. On-site Activities: These included exhibitions and safety promotion booths, organized with proper social distancing measures in compliance with health guidelines.
  2. Online Activities: These encompassed:
    • Online Safety Training for over 2,500 students.
    • Virtual Webinars on workplace safety.

The event aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, targeting the following goals:

  • Goal 3: Promote good health and well-being.
  • Goal 4: Ensure quality education for sustainability.
  • Goal 11: Foster sustainable, safe cities and communities.
  • Goal 12: Advocate for sustainable consumption and resource management.

The 18th KMUTT Safety Week reaffirmed the university’s commitment to safety, health, and sustainability, providing a valuable learning platform for the university community.
