On June 5th of every year, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) designates it as World Environment Day. This day serves to raise awareness about environmental crises and encourages collective action to prevent and address environmental issues. In 2022, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) organized a week-long World Environment Day event from June 1st to 7th under the theme “Only One Earth.” The activities included university executives, staff, and students planting over 500 trees and mangroves to increase the green area within the university and promote the efficient use of space.

Additionally, an environmental exhibition was organized, offering both onsite and online interactive activities. The event attracted over 300 participants through various channels, aiming to raise awareness about the significance of World Environment Day. The focus was on promoting the importance of conserving natural resources and the environment, and finding ways to care for the environment starting from individual actions. This involves altering daily life behaviors to be more environmentally friendly, thereby restoring nature’s balance and sustaining the environment. These initiatives align with the goals of the SDGs 2030, specifically goals 11, 13, 14, and 15, which emphasize protecting, restoring, and promoting sustainable use of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, and taking action to combat climate change.
