On February 28, 2024, the Center for Energy Environmental, Safety, and Health (EESH) in collaboration with the Office of Physical Resources Management at KMUTT Bangkhuntien organized the monthly Mangrove Forest Planting event. The event saw participation from administrators, students, staff, and the KMUTT community, who together cultivated 480 mangrove seedlings and planted 1,800 mangrove trees in a new area, Plot 4, at the King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi in Phanthai Norasing, Mueang District, Samut Sakhon Province. This initiative was undertaken to conserve and restore the nation’s resources to their natural abundance and to achieve an ecological balance. Additionally, it aimed to mitigate the impacts of greenhouse gas emissions and preserve the area’s biodiversity. Furthermore, this activity supports the policy towards achieving tangible zero-carbon emissions as part of contributing back to society and our planet. This event promotes Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, Goal 13: Climate Action by raising awareness of the importance of limited resources and preparing for climate change and its impacts, Goal 14: Life Below Water for the conservation of aquatic resources, and Goal 15: Life on Land, focusing on protecting, restoring, and promoting sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems.
