King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Office of Environment and various environmental partners, celebrated World Environment Day 2023 with the “Green Market: A Market for Loving the Earth” campaign. Held on July 1, 2023, from 14:00 to 18:00 at the Phiramyaphakdi Pavilion in Lumphini Park, Pathumwan, the event was designed to raise awareness and participation in environmental conservation, targeting a broader audience.

The Green Market aimed to support income generation from environmentally friendly activities such as planting and activities that care for the environment. The event showcased eco-friendly products and innovations, including pesticide-free products, sanitary products, organic farming products, and hydroponics. Additionally, DIY workshops utilized used or leftover materials to create useful items, extending the product life cycle and caring for the environment. Participants could view and create these items themselves, like the workshop on D.I.Y. jewelry from sea cockle shells by KMUTT’s SAFETist Farm, a learning center for sustainable living along the canal, and the creation of brooms from plastic bottles. The event also included a tree sapling giveaway, part of a policy to plant a million trees to increase green areas.

This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, particularly Goal 17, developing relationships with network partners to foster cooperation and future development; Goal 12, promoting sustainable production and consumption; and Goal 13, organizing activities to address climate change and its impacts.
