On July 18, 2023, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) warmly welcomed a delegation from Hua Chiew Chalermprakiat University at the Thien Thale 1 Meeting Room, Biological Research and Innovation Building (BRI Building). The visit was led by Assoc. Prof. Suchada Chaiyaswat, the acting director of the EESH center, and Mr. Padoong Boonpech, the Director of Physical Resource Management Office, KMUTT Bang Khun Thian. The delegation from Hua Chiew Chalermprakiat University, including administrative leaders and staff, was led by Asst. Prof. Chalong Khaewin, the Vice-President.

The main agenda of the visit revolved around understanding and observing the green university management system at KMUTT, which focuses on sustainability. Assoc. Prof. Suchada Chaiyaswat delivered a lecture on “KMUTT Green University For SDGs 2030”, while Mr. Padoong Boonpech spoke about the administration and management of buildings, energy and environment conservation, and safety and property management, all aimed at sustainability.

After the lectures, the guests were given a tour of the campus where they witnessed firsthand the mechanisms and methodologies adopted by KMUTT in managing energy, environment, safety, and occupational health. The visiting team showed keen interest, raising several queries about sustainable practices and how to transform an institution into a long-lasting green university.

This event highlights the mutual commitment of both universities towards achieving sustainability, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, particularly Goal 13, which emphasizes enhancing mechanisms to efficiently plan and manage climate change-related issues within countries. The collaboration between the two esteemed institutions further demonstrates their shared vision for a greener and more sustainable future in academia.
