The Environmental, Energy, Safety, and Occupational Health Management Center (EESH) of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), in collaboration with the Wiset-Vit Classroom Office and the Physical Resource Management Office of KMUTT Bang Khun Thian, organized a fire evacuation drill for the student dormitories and the Engineering and Science Classroom Office at KMUTT Bang Khun Thian. This event took place on September 5, 2023.

The drill was graced by Assoc. Prof. Suchada Chaiyaswat, the Director of EESH, and Dr. Kongkan Wachirapang, the Director of the Engineering and Science Classroom Office, both of whom gave welcoming remarks and jointly inaugurated the program. The training encompassed emergency evacuation preparations, a review of the fire extinguishing plan, hands-on fire escape practices, and a brainstorming session to derive lessons from the drill.

This fire drill is in compliance with legal requirements and aligns with the policies on energy, environmental management, safety, and occupational health. The drill witnessed participation from university administrators, professors, students, the KMUTT Bang Khun Thian Emergency Response Committee, the KMUTT Safety and Emergency Response Working Group, and the Bang Khun Thian District Disaster Relief and Prevention Unit. Over 400 participants took part in the training, observing the proceedings, and offering valuable feedback.

The initiative corresponds with the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically:

  • Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, emphasizing the safety and well-being of students and university personnel as a top priority.
