King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), led by the Sustainable Activities Promotion Group, in collaboration with the KMUTT Green Bike Club, organized an event titled “Beginners’ Bicycle Training” under the theme “KMUTT Walk and Bike Society”. This initiative, aimed at promoting sustainable modes of transportation, was held on September 21 and 22, 2023.
The program included various activities such as basic bicycle training for beginners, bicycle maintenance workshops, and sessions on acquiring everyday safe cycling skills for newcomers. Experts like Mr. Pacharathanawesarachakul and Mr. Akarachai Kaewsamnuk imparted valuable knowledge to the participants.
This event was designed to equip participants with skills in proper cycling techniques, bike maintenance, and repairs. Moreover, with the support and endorsement of the KMUTT Bike Club and the broader KMUTT Green Bike community, the university aimed to encourage students and staff to opt for bicycles over cars. The initiative also focused on publicizing the university’s policy on environmental conservation and promoting a community-based approach to cycling and walking within the KMUTT campus, termed as the “KMUTT WALK and BIKE SOCIETY”.
Attracting interest from over 100 members of the KMUTT community, this event aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030:
- Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, emphasizing the health benefits of cycling and walking.
- Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, highlighting the importance of developing eco-friendly and sustainable modes of transportation within urban environments.
