King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), through its Energy, Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health Management Center (EESH Center) and its network of laboratories, participated in the 3rd Laboratory Safety Network Annual Symposium 2022 “Safety Culture: Together Towards A Better Tomorrow.” The event was organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) in collaboration with Chiang Mai University. Mr. Somporn Sukhtawee, Deputy Director of NRCT, presided over the opening ceremony on November 10, 2022, at the Chiang Mai Grandview Hotel Convention Center. Representing the central region, the Applied Science and Engineering Research Center (ASESS Research Center) from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, showcased their exemplary Good Practices in laboratory safety standards and won the first prize for Outstanding Safety Standard Laboratory Good Practices of 2022.

The EESH Center, led by Assoc. Prof. Suchada Chaisawasd, Director of EESH, represented the laboratories in receiving the award for safe laboratory practices as per the Peer Evaluation assessment and certification system. Additionally, the Biopharmaceutical Product Laboratory (BPCL) at the National Biopharmaceutical Facility, the Biological Characterization Laboratory, and the Chemistry Lab from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, also participated, presenting their work in poster format and attracting considerable interest from the attendees. The event, with over 300 researchers from various regions, was organized to develop and enhance laboratory safety standards, aligning with the SDGs 2030 goals of Quality Education (Goal 4), Good Health and Well-being (Goal 3), and Responsible Consumption and Production (Goal 12).
