Waste utilization Program in KMUTT

KMUTT set up waste utilization program in organic waste to make fertilizer by using fruit & vegetable wastes from food center & canteen and use in our campuses as organic fertilizers. Moreover, we use food wastes from food center and canteen for Biogas production in our campus with 300 kg of food waste/day. These waste utilization activities help to reduce around 20 %of MSW and make high benefits for waste to energy and waste to organic farm in our campus.

In 2017, the total of 129,192 Kg of organic waste come from 55,000 kg of food waste, 13,500 kg of fruit, vegetable and garden waste, 2,600 kg of used vegetable oil and the remain of 58,092 Kg of organic waste. All fruits and vegetables, garden wastes have been used for organic fertilizer within our campus. Used vegetable oil has been used for biodiesel production. Some of organic food has been reused for teaching and research materials for pilot plant production.

Organic Waste Management system in KMUTT by using from Waste to Energy Concept

  • Waste utilization Program

KMUTT set up waste utilization program in organic waste to make fertilizer by using fruit or vegetable wastes from food center or canteen. Fruit& vegetable wastes from food center and garden wastes will be made organic fertilizers and use in KMUTT gardens and plants. Some used vegetable oils will be recycled to biodiesel by outsource plant. Moreover, we use food wastes from food center and canteen for Biogas production in our campus with 300 kg of food waste/day. These waste utilization activities help to reduce 25 %of MSW and make high benefits for waste to energy and waste to organic farm in our campus.

 Biogas production from Food Waste

From waste to energy concept, food waste from KMUTT food center will be load to biogas pilot plant which full capacity 300 kg/day.Biogas from this plant will be used as fuel and supply hot water to clean kitchenware in food center.

In 2017, the total of 129,192 Kg of organic waste come from 55,000 kg of food waste, 13,500 kg of fruit, vegetable and garden waste, 2,600 kg of used vegetable oil and the remain of 58,092 Kg of organic waste.

Results: in 2017:100% of food waste utilization to energy as biogas production
