Element of green building implementation

Green  buildings is the building which decreases resource usage in both the building process and also the future use of the building. The goal is to reduce CO2 emissions, energy use, and water use, while creating an atmosphere where students can be healthy and learn.

KMUTT initiate Green building for our new research building “Bioprocess Research & Innovation Buildingor BRI building” since 2012 by using Lab-21 –Sustainable laboratory Guideline for Green Building Design and Construction which concern on Safety Energy and Environment issues  including Adopt Energy and Environmental Performance Goal, Assess Opportunities from a “Whole Buildings” approach ,Use life-Cycle Cost Decision Making ,Commission equipment and controls in new construction and retrofit projects ,Employ a broad range of sustainable energy and water efficiency strategies ,Measure energy and water consumption and track emission reductions ,Evaluate on-site power generation, combined heat and power technologies, and renewable power purchases ,Specify “green” construction materials ,Promote energy and water efficiency operation and training efforts and Explore sustainable design opportunities beyond the building.

This Green building in KMUTT can be reduce 30 % of energy usage and water usage for its operation. In the Safety issue, it concerns on safety and risk management; chemical and hazardous materials handling & management and Indoor environment quality which are key factors for Environmental Performance Criteria(EPC) Checklist and rating for its sustainable.

KMUTT Green Building: “Bioprocess Research & Innovation Building or BRI building “

Goal: BRI Green Building get ” Certified”on EPC(38-46points for rating) by the year 2017 and “Silver “on EPC (47-55points for rating) by the year 2020

“Bioprocess Research & Innovation Building or BRI building” is now starting to operate since September 2014 and  in the process of measure energy and water consumption and track emission reductions to monitor sustainable operation. Moreover, we use Lab21 – Environmental Performance Criteria ,EPC Checklist  and Rating  for our checklist and rating to measure its sustainable and for continual improvement. KMUTT set criteria for this Green Building the get the “Certified”on EPC(38-46points for rating) by the year 2017 and Silver” on EPC (47-55points for rating) by the year 2020.

Results: 2017 In progress with 30 % of energy usage and water usage for its operation
